A 40 year old friendship that started at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mid – South.
WMC News covering this rare friendship between Mike Edwards and Chris Thomas for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mid – South.
Go Big for a 11 Year Old Child who is looking for a Big Brother
Dillon, 11, enjoys being a role model for his two siblings, “I always have to set an example for my little brothers.” Still, Dillon would like to have a Big Brother set the example for him.
National studies show children with role models are more likely to have strong relationships with family and friends, and are less likely to use drugs, alcohol, or skip school. When asked what Dillon would like to say to his Big Brother, Dillon said, “You can be my Big Brother because I’m fun. I like to do a lot of activities that are fun. I like to play basketball. I have hobbies. I like to do a lot of fun things, and I’m exciting.”

Go Big for Darren who is looking for a Big Brother
A 10-year-old boy in Memphis is looking for a Big Brother who likes to sing and have a good time. Darren, 10, wasn’t too shy, when asked to sing tunes from a recent collaboration with Memphis Symphony Orchestra. “Living the life in the city, working for the man every night and day,” he sang with a smile. The Idlewild Elementary School fifth-grader is one of millions of children across America in need of a caring, adult role model.
Since WMC Action News 5 and Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Mid-South began joined forces nearly two years ago, BBBS’ volunteer mentoring program is seeing huge gains. Maybe you or someone you know could teach Darren a thing or two.
